Life Rehab…

With Makiko

What have I been up to in the past week? Movies, movies, movies, it seems!

Wall-E: Super-cute. Just my cup of tea! (Surely anyone who even remotely knows me would not be surprised by this comment.) My female friends seem to like how Eve is the impulsive, slightly violent one. :)

The Dark Knight: Awww man. Is Heath Ledger the creepiest guy ever. I don’t know… Maybe I just read too many rave reviews that raised my expectations, or maybe it was because I really had to go visit the ladies’ room during the last hour, but it seemed a bit too long, and a bit over-rated. I guess that probably won’t stop the 500+ seat theaters in Times Square from being sold out for 3 shows straight on a Tuesday night though. Anyway, my real question for everyone is… Is Christian Bale hot?

Definitely Maybe: A surprisingly realistic view of love and disasterous relationships. I really thought it was going to be awful, but then, it turned out to be quite good. This is even more surprising since it was apparently written and directed by Adam Brooks, the genius last known for… Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. And no one can resist it when an 11-year-old daughter gives her dad relationship advice, right? Mmm… We (heart) Abigail Breslin, the only girl of her age to get any work in Hollywood, it seems. Anyway, I know it looks like just another chick flick, but I would say that it is much better than most.

Juno: I’m slow, and finally got a chance to catch this one. It’s cute and funny… but why did everyone love this movie so much? Perhaps because we all secretly wish that we could have such supportive parents. You know, the kind who would say, “Oh, you’re 16 and pregnant? Ok! Be sure to take the pre-natal vitamins!”

Oh yes, I also had a nice time with Miss Makiko this weekend. Some photos from her visit are here!

Reflections

Hops and Molly

I promised to make an update, so here it is! I have uploaded a few newish pictures here. I hope they aren’t too terribly disappointing.

You know, that is the thing that I’ve noticed recently. Disappointment is really one of the worst feelings in the world (along with unrequited love and the fear of a tax audit). Disappointment in other people, certain situations, mostly disappointment with yourself. This is why having a blog can be so dangerous. I mean, it’s so terribly easy to go back and read the old entries, and recall… For me, I mostly recall how stupid I was 4 years, 2 years, or 2 days ago. And then, inevitably, I feel disappointed.

“I should have known better,” I always tell myself. Yet somehow, I didn’t. And this realization that I oughtn’t be so stupid doesn’t usually prevent me from future stupid, albeit differently stupid, behavior. So, with every unique experience one encounters in life, one has the opportunity to look forward to one’s stupid actions and reactions towards it, and with it, the inevitable disappointment evoked.

Although, I suppose it could always be worse. “I should have known better,” could be “I actually did know better, but I was stupid anyway.” That would be really disappointing.

Oh My!

Well, it’s 2am, so I don’t think it’s the best time for the semi-annual big update, but it has been recently pointed out to me that I’ve been continuously neglecting my blog for some time now. So… I pledge to come back within the week to provide something meaningful.

Although, WordPress keeps nagging me to update to 2.6. Only if it stops breaking all my plug-ins and layouts, I say! *sigh*

Oh, and I plan on providing more photos of Molly and Hops soon. :)
