Hearts are Broken, Nothing’s Free
Listening to:

08 – Don’t Save Me From Myself
Two finals down, three more to go. I swear I can make it… And still all this stuff for summer that I still need to settle. I’ve never felt so disorganized. But after Thursday, most of this will be over, just packing and the 24 hours in the air to worry about.
So, I’ve been thinking about buying some noise-cancelling headphones to reward myself for surviving this term. Mmmm, not going deaf during flight…. Sounds promising. Maybe those little Sony in-ear types, because I still don’t know if I can bring myself to wear those gigantic Bose headphones that are supposed to have beautiful sound. I know, I know, quality bass response, but I don’t know if I’m enough of a technophile to forgive myself for the fashion faux pas.
By the way, if anyone wants a futon or a loveseat for the summer, please let me know. I’ve got so much furniture to give away, it scares even myself.

NOTE: If you have no URI, leave the field blank. Do not write N/A, for goodness sake!

If you’re planning to reward yourself for a good year, I’d recommend going with the Bose headphones. They might look retarded, but those ads don’t lie. Plus, I met this guy on my flight to China last winter who let me try them on, and they are sooooooooooooo worth it. The noise cancellation was amazing, and I can only imagine what the sound is like then. Also, they are super comfortable, though they might look bulky. They also have a 30-day money back guarantee so you can do a trial run…On a different note, congratulations on being almost done with the year!

I want to, but I have to order them direct from Bose to get my MIT discount, so it might take a while to get the order in, and I might be gone by then. That, and the $300 price tag… *sigh* The life of a poor student.

Don’t get the Bose headphones! They’re overpriced and have poor sound quality, completely overrated. There are a bunch of other noise-cancelling headphones/earphones that do much better … yes, Bose has good bass, but at the huge price of fidelity … and it sucks if you don’t turn the electronics on … you’re just paying a lot for fancy unnecessary electronics when the “noise cancelling” aspect could be accomplished with simple design/engineering. Don’t do it!
If you want headphone recommendations, I can refer you to this great forum discussion that had pointers from people that really knew what they were talking about, and with regards to which went best with the iPod too.

Expensive headphones *shakes head* I never understood the need. Of course, I don’t really listen to much music at all, and I usually just use the little foam earplugs if I want to reduce noise (I like the squishiness of them).
Also…what happens if I type N/A in the URI space? I am so tempted…

I have the non noise canceling verision of these and they are really nice. Great for traveling because they fold up into it’s own container.
Moo.

I say go for the noise reducing headphones, but maybe not Bose, you are just paying for the brand. If you have a good look around at all the alternatives, you will be pleasantly surprised. I use the “behing the neck” type headphones, which i absolutely adore! Although the external sound reduction isn’t that super.
Anyway, I was drawn to comment because of the Michael Hutchence “what i’m listening to.” He was (still is in my mind) one of the greatest Aussie rock stars of all time!
(I played golf once with the drummer from INXS, i have a total mind blank to what his name is though.)
I heard something about how they made some TV show in the states like American Idol, but the winner gets to be the frontman for INXS. I wish they would bring it to Australia.
